Halloween Safety Tips
Halloween is a day that is fun for everyone. The costumes, the candy, the decorations, and trick or treating are all good fun, but you have to make sure that you trick or treat safely. Below is a list of safety tips that will help you and your kids have a safe and fun Halloween.
Never trick or treat alone. Always trick or treat in a group, and never allow children to trick or treat without an adult.
Make sure you are visible. Carry a flash light, glow stick, or bike light so that cars can see you, and always walk on the sidewalks if the neighborhood has them. Walk against the flow of traffic so you can see approaching cars easily.
Never enter a person's home unless you know them. If a person invites you inside to get the candy, tell them that you will wait outside for them to return.
Never eat homemade treats that a stranger prepared. A stranger who wishes to harm you may put drugs, metal shavings, or other damaging ingredients into the treat. Only eat factory wrapped candies, and if possible avoid the type of candies that could have been rewrapped.
Have fun but be safe!
